Winter Vacation

Well, its been a week since Bobby and I got back from our vacation. We went to North Georgia again except this time we took Bobby's parents. We had a blast! We camped at Red Top Mountain near Atlanta for the first leg. We took Bobby's parents to Lookout Mountain while we were there. Bobby's mother had never seen or been on a mountain or seen a waterfall or a babblin' brook. I took my camera of course! I even shot my entire vacation in RAW format and I'm still processing the photos! I took so many.
From Red Top we went to Unicoi State Park in Helen, Georgia. Cute little city! Its sort of like St. George Street in St. Augustine but with a German feel to it. While there we went to Brasstown Bald, the highest point in Georgia. Then we went into North Carolina just to say we'd been there and from there we went to Black Rock Mountain State Park. We didn't camp there. Its such a steep grade to get there, plus its the highest state park in Georgia. Then we went back to the camper. The next day just Bobby and I went to Anna Ruby Falls. Its a steep trail (1/2 mile long uphill!).
Took lotsa pics, but was really winded by the time we got there! Glad to know it was downhill all the way back! After Unicoi our last leg of the trip was to Elijah Clark State Park. We went to Watson Mill Bridge State Park. One of the covered bridges in Georgia. There are no screws or bolts holding this bridge together. Its made entirely of wood and held together with wooden pegs. It creaks and moans when anything drives over it. Rather unnerving if you ask me. We finally came home on the 3rd of January. It was a fun trip but we were glad to be home!

Alpine Groves Outing-May 18, 2008.

My husband and I traveled out to Alpine Groves Friday the 17th. We thought the rains would hold out. Instead, the rains followed us all the way. It was a total wash out for us. Afterwards,we found out the sun had actually came out after the rain. Oh Well! A couple of people from the Jacksonville, Florida Flickr Group got some sensational shots.

We tried again Saturday with more people from the Flickr Group. I think I got a few nice shots. I do love a sunset!

I had a lot of fun taking pictures with the group. It was great to place the faces with the names.

Photo Contest at Folkston's Railwatch 2008

I had entered three entries in the contest this year. Last year, I think I only entered two. But, I managed to win "Best Night Shot" and "Best in Show". The entry was a shot with my newest camera at the time. A HP-935. It was an Amtrak train. The train itself was a total blur, but the Amtrak logo was clear as day. This year I won in two categories, but not "Best in Show". I didn't expect to anyway. I don't think it would be right. But, I entered in the categories of "Best Night Shot", "Best CSX Engine", and "Best Foreign Power".
I won first place in the latter two categories.
